Vista del Mar is an organic farm located in the hills above Villa Bisono (Navarette) in the Dominican Republic, on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola.
Although our agricultural efforts produce coffee, cacao, avocados, bananas, and many other types of fruits, spices, and foods, Vista del Mar is more than just a farm. At Vista del Mar, we research, develop, and implement technologies for sustainable living in the new economy.
Vista del Mar is our home, as well as a farm, a campus, and a startup/research/social/artistic incubator. We are focused on technologies and economic models that foster the development of vibrant, inclusive communities and industries.
Our current technology projects include both hardware and software engineering efforts, from low-tech biogas generation to blockchain-based solutions for the post-truth media problem and for permissionless economic systems with a democratically evolvable monetary policy.
We Utilize renewable energy sources, including a solar powerplant, to operate our campus facilities as well as our research and small-scale manufacturing shops. We divert excess power production to cryptocurrency mining and robotic production via 3D printing and CNC manufacturing.
Soon we hope to be able to include limited ecotourism facilities, on-site catering and film location support, additional campus housing, labs, and meeting areas to the list of things that we offer here at Vista Del Mar….stay tuned!
Here at Vista del Mar, we are dedicated to doing what we can to both advance and facilitate the long-term improvement of the human condition. To this end, not only do we operate our own in-house philanthropic, research, and education activities, we also open this opportunity to others.
This is done in the form of a grant or subsidy to perform research, development, creative work, or study at our facility at a very low or even negligible cost. We are not highly funded, so what we can provide is subsidized room and board at our campus, as well as access to the various (limited) campus facilities. If you have a project that you feel might fit with our vision and could use a way to live and work on it at a very low (or no) cost among other creative and technical people for a while, drop us a line, and we can talk about it.
